Windows 11 22H2 “RTM” scheduled for the end of May (05/24). [Update]

[Original 2. Mai.22]: Little by little we are getting closer to the finish line as far as the Windows 11 22H2 (Sun Valley 2) is concerned. We already reported about the official launch of Windows 11 22H2. But August doesn’t mean that the new version won’t be ready until then.

With the last Insider, there were already some assumptions that this is the final version. But according to our new information, Microsoft wants to reach RTM status at the end of May. Although RTM (Release To Manufacture) is the wrong, but still common term for a final version of the operating system.

This means that from June we will only receive updates in the beta and release preview channel and even the “experimental” users can also update to Windows 11 22H2 without being insiders and will then only receive updates. Until then, we will continue to receive new Insider Builds with fixes and individual improvements to the new features.

And as things currently stand, those running Windows 11 on unsupported hardware need not worry. Nothing has been changed or tightened, as some had suspected. It is still possible to install or upgrade Windows 11 without TPM and Secureboot.

[Update 14.05.22]: As Walking Cat just tweeted, the final version of Windows will be released as “RTM” on 05/24/22. We’ll have to wait and see whether it stays with Windows 11 22621. But it looks like it. Then this version would be the “original version” that you already know from our ISOs, which is then only fed with updates.

Of course, it will still be a while before Microsoft will officially present Windows 11 22H2. Only then will this version be offered to everyone in waves via Windows Update. And whether the tabs in File Explorer will also come is not yet 100% certain. But you are working on it and can also be submitted later.

So it’s not long now. Then the insiders can concentrate entirely on the first previews for the upcoming Windows 11 23H2.
