Fortnite Battle Royale has been updated again for another week and, although in this case we are not facing a new version as such, Epic Games has decided include already the expected tornadoes and lightning that they had shown in the presentation trailer of the current Season 1: Back from Chapter 3. Starting today, January 11, the climate vary on the island to create spectacular moments. The continuation we tell how they work these natural phenomena.
Get ready because the weather forecast on Fortnite’s Battle Island is going to get very bumpy starting today. Tornadoes and lightning have finally arrived in the game, but, how do these work exactly? It is a question that many users are surely asking. We already know definitively what the role of these climatic phenomena is (beyond show off with stunning effects, as we can see in the video attached by Epic Games itself).
Today’s island forecast: extreme weather, including tornadoes and thunderstorms!
Well, these are the characteristics from tornadoes and lightning:
- The hurricanes: they can be used to fly. If we see one forming, we can zoom in to use its whirlpool and glide around it. If we stay like this long enough, the tornado will spit at us and we will fly off, but there will be no damage for each.
- The lightning bolts: They will appear when dark clouds form in the sky, dealing a small amount of damage and causing a fire in the surrounding area when they fall, but also grant a blast that grants a temporary speed boost to players hit. To increase the probability of being struck by lightning, you can jump into an area of water or go to the highest point under the dark cloud (just keep in mind that they do not strike twice in the same place).
As you can see, far from being a harmful element, these new climates offer more benefits and mobility for all players. Therefore, it will be up to each one to use them to their advantage or not. Of course, they are one more option that is available to move around the island.
Tornado week through January 17
To celebrate the arrival of tornadoes, Epic Games has confirmed that from now until January 17 at 15:00 CET be active “Tornado Week”.
- During this period there are more likely that you find tornadoes all over the game island.
In this patch of January 11 Fortnite also brought back the flare gun of the camera. From now on this curious weapon that can start fires is available through chests, supply drops or random on the floor.
