For the last few days, we have seen the topic of save game compatibility between PS4 and PS5 has taken the stage. We also learned that some games like Yazuka: Like a Dragon, Dirt 5 won’t fully support the transfer of game progress between PS4 and PS5.
Recently Sony published a FAQ page addressing several of the player’s doubts and queries. There they stated that the ‘save game compatibility’ is only a matter for the developers i.e save game transfers will only work if the developers of that game support it.
Please note that it is at the discretion of the developer whether you can transfer scores between a PS4 version and a PS5 version of the same game.Sony
And how can you transfer save games between PS4 and PS5?
You can transfer digital games, game data, and game saves from a PS4 console to a PS5 console using LAN cables, or by connecting wirelessly (WiFi).
If you’ve already stored PS4 games and game data in the external USB storage device connected to your PS4, you can bring them over to PS5 with that external USB storage device.
And if you are a PS Plus member, you can also sync PS4 game saves on PS5 through cloud storage.
In the same blog post, Sony also confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure will both support save games transfer between PS4 and PS5. Ghost of Tsushima is also confirmed to support save game compatibility by its developers in a recent tweet.
