Since Satisfactory Update 4 arrived there’s been lots of talks about alternative recipes. Some of the great recipes in update 3 have now been moved down and some of the new recipes have taken the top spot. So today we’re going to be looking through the various recipes and cover which I think are good and why. Now if you disagree with me by all means do put the reason below in the comment section and we can discuss it more.
Satisfactory: Best Alternative Recipes
- Casted Screws
- Stitched Iron Plate
- Iron Wire
- Bolted Frame
- Steel Screws
- Steel Rods
- Copper Alloy Ingot
- Fused Quickwire
- Solid Steel Ingot
- Encased Industrial Pipe
- Steel Rotor
- Steeled Frame
- Pure Recipes
- Heavy Encased Frames
- Caterium Computers / Crystal Computers
1. Casted Screws
There are four recipes that really stand out to me. The first one is Casted Screws which is still available to us. It was here from update 3 and it’s a good recipe because it allows you to build the same amount of screws in a much smaller space because you remove one of the constructors in the production and it also saves you 4 MW of power. So this is also really useful late game if you’re trying to maximize your steel usage elsewhere. So if you need steel for a different production line you can use this instead of the steel screw which we’ll be talking about in a moment.
2. Stitched Iron Plate
Another old recipe that is even better if you combine this with iron wire.
3. Iron Wire
Iron Wire is another great recipe. Our third one in tiers. Now I should mention the reason for this is because iron is one of the most freely available resources in the game and so where possible we will want to use the copper for copper-based products and if we can take a copper-based product like wire and turn it into an iron-based product even better.
4. Bolted Frame
Now our fourth recipe available in these early tiers is Bolted Frame. But this is only useful if you partner it with the steel screw recipe which we’ll be talking about next. Doing that will boost productivity and reduce your steel consumption versus the steeled frame recipe.
5. Steel Screws
Next, we have Steel Screws which I’d argue is still the best screw alternative in-game unless you need the call elsewhere as we mentioned previously. But perhaps with your end game build, you want to get rid of screws entirely which is certainly possible. Now the reason this recipe is so good is that you can take a steel beam and turn it into a large number of screws. So that you can produce screws at the factory as and when needed rather than worrying about the logistics of taking screws to and from each factory.
6. Steel Rods
Steer Rod is another one but it’s it’s kind of hit and miss and is certainly more useful early game than anything else as it gives you a small reduction of items, buildings and power.
7. Copper Alloy Ingot
Next we have Copper Alloy Ingot. Now this is actually a great recipe and the reason for this is we take a resource in of abundance like iron ore and combine it with copper to create more copper ingots. That being said late game if you have the power available and want to want the most efficient recipe for production I’d go with the pure alternative recipes.
8. Fused Quickwire
Now another thing to keep an eye out for is fused wire this combines copper with keterine to produce extra quick wire and as katerium’s rarer than copper this is one of those picks that you want to make.
9. Solid Steel Ingot
Next we have a Solid Steel Ingot and this is another great recipe. It reduces the amount of coal and iron needed for steel and reduces the overall power cost too all round great recipe especially when partnered with pure iron ingots.
10. Encased Industrial Pipe
Next one is Encased Industrial Pipe. Now these reduce the price to produce encases industrial beams but they do slow down the production from six permanent to four so it’s a bit of a trade-off there.
11. Steel Rotor
We then have Steel Rotor. Now this is one of my favorite ones. It allows you to get rid of screws which is what I go for with all my recipes but it also allows you to have status and rotors produced in the same location using the same resources so it’s great for earlier gameplay.
12. Steeled Frame
Next is the Steeled Frame. Now this is great if you want to remove screws from your production chain. However, if you want a recipe that’s best suited for production then go with the bolted frame along with steel screws that will actually save you more steel than this one.
13. Pure Recipes
We’re now moving next where everything starts to get a little bit more exciting. First off we have all the recipes that combine with water with a given material to produce extra. So for example this is the pure iron, the pure copper, the steamed copper sheets and wet concrete and any others that combine an ingredient with water to produce more of that said ingredient. Water is just as abundant as iron. So if you’re looking to maximize your build do take these. Just bear in mind that because you’re using refineries you’re going to need a lot more power available.
14. Heavy Encased Frames
We then have Heavy Encased Frames. Now these are also great all around at this stage they reduce the items, the building and power usage and while we’re at it we’re also getting rid of screws completely at the same time.
15. Caterium Computers / Crystal Computers
Also at this stage in the game we have computers available to us and the best one is Caterium computers as this reduces the amount of buildings and power required. This is quiet similar to Crystal computers but exchanges the use of quartz for Caterium. I should also mention that this recipe and the crystal computer recipe can be used to remove plastic from the manufacturing process altogether providing you have the Silicon Circuit Board alternative recipe.
