Recently modders were able to launch The Last of Us Part II on PS4 Pro in debug mode. Thanks to this, the players were also exposed to the initially hidden graphic modes.
As it turned out, on PS4 Pro TLOU 2 can work at 1080p with aiming at 60 FPS, but the frame rate in this case turns out to be extremely unstable and drops to 40-50 frames per second. Apparently, this is due to the weak CPU of the console.
In addition, the modders managed to replace Ellie in the game with Joel, but his model moves in the frame with animations originally intended for the girl.
The protagonist of the first game was even added to the cut scenes with Ellie, but the facial animation does not work in them. At the same time, if you replace the models of Joel and Ellie with their other versions, then the cut-scenes look as if they were originally intended. So the modders managed to return the canon look of this pair.
The Last of Us Part II was released in June 2020 and is still one of the few major Sony releases in recent years that have not received any update for the PS5 – even the most basic, with an increase in frame rate.
