Switch sales have increased massively thanks to the new OLED variant.
Recent data from Famitsu shows which consoles and video games sold best in Japan last week. It can be seen that both the Nintendo title “Metroid Dread” and the new Switch celebrated a successful sales debut.
The 2D adventure was sold almost 87,000 times, making it by far the most successful start in the series. It is already the fourth best-selling “Metroid” game in Japan.
Ubisoft’s open world shooter “Far Cry 6” is also well received by the Japanese. The PS4 version stayed in second place with 34,000 sales, while the New Gen version was in third place and sold over 16,000 units. This means that the title has sold around 51,000 times.
This is followed by well-known permanent guests, including “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe”, “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate”, “Ring Fit Adventure” and “Minecraft”. 8th place goes to the Japanese adventure “Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!” The ninth place is occupied by “Lost Judgment”, which was released worldwide on September 24th. The top 10 are rounded off by the mini-game collection “WarioWare: Get It Together!”, Which was also released last month.
Thanks to the OLED version of the Nintendo Switch, the console is now even more dominant than in previous months. Of the 179,000 copies sold, about 138,000 sales are due to the new Nintendo hardware. However, the model has sold worse than the base console and the Switch Lite back then.
