Yesterday, Apple released the second beta of iOS 16, which introduced support for backup via LTE. This is reported in the update notes.
iPhone and iPad users can now back up their devices over an LTE connection in addition to 5G or WiFi, according to Apple.
Starting with iOS 15, Apple allowed users to back up their devices using 5G if a WiFi connection was not available, but this option was not available for LTE connections.
LTE connections can be slower and backing up can consume quite a bit of data, but many cellular plans today offer unlimited data usage, making it easy to back up even over LTE.
