iOS 16 Beta 2 and iPadOS 16 Beta 2 available for download

iOS 16 beta and iPadOS 16 beta

The second beta of iOS 16 for iPhone and iPadOS 16 for iPad has been released to users enrolled in Apple’s system software beta programs.

These betas are for Apple developers and can be installed by anyone with a developer account or access to a beta profile.

iOS 16 includes a redesigned lock screen interface, new focus mode features, additions to the Messages app, and many improvements to Mail, Maps, Health, and other built-in apps.

iPadOS 16 includes a brand new multitasking feature called Screen Manager, but only for iPad hardware with the M1. iPadOS 16 also includes most of the features of iOS 16.

Beta system software is not intended for use on mainstream devices, and developer beta builds are for advanced users who are application developers or other creators of Apple’s software platforms. The beta version contains bugs and many applications crash or perform suboptimally. Regular users interested in beta testing should wait until the public beta becomes available in July, and even then proceed with caution.

Users who are enrolled in the beta system program for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 can find the beta 2 builds available now in the Settings app > General > Software Update Engine on their device.

The final versions of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 will be available this fall.

Separately, the second beta version of macOS Ventura is also available to developers.
