On the official Dying Light Discord server, Techland’s community manager has shared information about co-op in Dying Light 2. This segment will work on the same principle as in the original, which means that a maximum of four people can play together, but with one change. In the first Dying Light, only 95% of the game could be played in cooperative mode, while the sequel will offer the possibility of 100% co-survival, that is, from the very beginning to the end.
The first few hours of Dying Light had to be completed individually, and the final act also didn’t allow for shared adventures. Since the branching story will be the main factor in the gameplay, the decisions in the co-op will be made exclusively by the player who the others have joined.
The community manager also denied rumors that Dying Light 2 will have a base building system. On the contrary, it will not, but the known safe places from the original will be in the new part and will work the same way.
