M Sports Division, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, presented the first Series 3 station wagon in its history. And this is a mighty and very cool BMW M3 Touring.
And is it already possible to admire the big “nostrils” of BMW – or is it still a bitch and you shouldn’t do that? If anything, specifically for this car, they seem very organic to me:
Maybe it’s the extended arches, large air intakes, huge disks and wide wheels (275/35 ZR 19 in front and 285/30 ZR 20 in the back) – and therefore the “nostrils” seem organic.
In general, the design echoes the BMW M3 sedan. The only differences that crept in are those that the original cars have – the shape of the roof and the fifth door that has appeared.
As standard, the roof, roof rails, spoiler and flap will be painted black, regardless of the main color. Optionally, the roof can be painted in body color, but I believe that few people will indulge in this.
The station wagon was 85 kg heavier than the M3 sedan, reaching a curb weight of 1865 kg. The drag coefficient is Cd = 0.36. This is 0.02 less than the sedan.
Interior design – typical BMW:
In general, the salon debuted in the updated G20 three-ruble note a month ago. Looks calmer in black
The car received two displays:
A 14.9-inch screen is responsible for multimedia, and a 12.3-inch instrument panel. In the database, buyers will receive a leather interior, power seats and three-zone climate control.
Despite the sports component of this “car”, it can carry something in the trunk. The base volume is 500 liters. The back row is folded in a ratio of 40:20:40. If you completely remove these seats, then the usable volume will increase to 1510 liters:
The BMW M3 Touring received the stuffing from the M4. It also comes in a single version: only four-wheel drive, only a three-liter forced biturbo. M3 Touring develops 510 hp With. and 650 Nm. In the configuration, the car received an uncontested eight-speed “automatic” M Steptronic with Drivelogic.
Despite the fact that the car is all-wheel drive, the front wheels are connected only in necessary situations. Therefore, the car retains the character of rear-wheel drive. Four drive control modes are available to the driver: four-wheel drive; 4WD Sport mode, which puts more emphasis on rear-wheel drive; only rear-wheel drive and drift mode M Dynamic Mode with traction control disabled.
Dynamics generally breaks the roof: up to “hundreds” in 3.6 seconds, up to two hundred – in 12.9. The maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h, and with the purchase of the optional M Driver’s Package, it will be increased to 280 km/h.
The M3 Touring features an adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers that provide a ground clearance of 122mm. The front suspension received double hinges, the rear – five levers. Optionally, you can order carbon-ceramic brakes, which are 9.6 kg lighter than the base ones.
The car was developed for more than two years, trying to set the best time of the Nürburgring on it. This, by the way, turned out: 7:35.06 minutes made the M3 Touring the fastest station wagon of the track.
