Apple has extended the free replacement program for AirPods Pro that have problems with sound or noise cancellation.
Launched in October 2020, this assistance program was to cover AirPods Pro for two years after the unit’s retail sale, but today Apple He has decided from extend the free repair to three years after the first sale of the device.
Those who bought AirPods in 2019 will have until 2022 to request a free replacement or repair in case of any audio or noise cancellation issues. THE issues covered from the program activated by Apple are:
- Crackles or static sounds which increase in noisy environments, during physical activities or while talking on the phone
- The active noise cancellation does not work as expected, for example due to a loss of bass or an increase in background sounds, such as road or airplane noise
The affected AirPods were manufactured before October 2020, and those who have models experiencing such issues can take them to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for free assistance. Apple says AirPods Pro will be reviewed prior to service to verify that they are eligible for the program. The AirPods Pro earphones showing the problem (left, right or both) will be replaced.
The program only applies to AirPods Pro and not to AirPods or AirPods Max.
